Reflections on teleology and Nietzsche’s interpretation of the teleological conception in Kant’s Critique of Faculty of Judgment

Abstract

In the period in which he was for the first time called up for military service, Nietzsche formulated plans to write a dissertation, which, he hoped, would earn him the title of Doctor of Philosophy. In his plans for a future dissertation, in which he would discuss fundamental conceptions about the existence of the
world as much as the interpretation of the organic world, the still young student of philology proposes to criticize the Kantian conception, presented in the critique of the faculty of judgment, as a kind of defense of the teleological approach. However, doubts remain as to how correct his interpretation of Kant’s philosophy would be, as well as to what extent would his imposition that Kant defended a certain teleological conception would be fair. About these problems, we look into the text below.
