Abstract

This article proposes an analysis of the contributions of Yuk Hui’s work The Question Concerning Technology in China and its relationship with François Jullien’s concept of efficacy, through a reflection on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Based on this discussion, we aim to explore the practical and philosophical challenges of re-signifying technologies, considering as an example the implications of this theory for the integration of Chinese medicine into the Western context. Therapeutic efficacy, rooted in distinct views of body and nature, cannot be fully translated without a loss of meaning. We therefore seek to reflect on how to integrate technologies without erasing their original cosmologies.

Keywords: Cosmotechnics. Efficacy. Chinese Medicine. Biomedical Paradigm.
