Abstract

This essay, on the intellectual trajectory of RIP Professor Roberto Machado, has as its source: my conversations with him over the nearly 40 years of life, first as an undergraduate student in the philosophy course at UFRJ, then as a master’s adviser and friend ; his publications and classes; the testimony of friends;
and your resume published on Plataforma Lattes. The objective of the essay is to present to the younger generations how the formation of one of the most influential Brazilian thinkers in the last decades in the field of philosophy was constituted, emphasizing the matrix of his ideas, above all, arising from the philosophies of Foucault, Nietzsche and Deleuze, valuing the critical aspects of rationality, causal connection, teleology, and the affirmative and intense character of life.

Key words: difference, affirmation, intensity
