Abstract

The text revisits the distinctive politics-police typology, as set out in Disagreement: Politics and Philosophy, to investigate its relations within the political sphere, which Rancière (2014) identifies with democratic processes that, in addressing a wrong, reconfigure communities in relation to one another. To this end, the idea of a democratic and social republic (Rancière, 2022) is considered as the framework within which political dissensions, through different spheres of egalitarian subjectivation, also extend to representation, such that the disidentification with the common spreads into forms of representativeness, whose actions oppose identitarian reactionism.
