Approximations between Marxism and Decoloniality
Keywords:
Marxism, Decoloniality, Subalternity, Imperialism, Latin AmericaAbstract
From a critical view this article seeks an approximation between Marxism and the decolonial theory of the Modernity/Coloniality group. Aiming to analyse the criticism of the Latin American group to Marxism as another negative product of Eurocentrism and thus inadequate for our continent, we will, with recourse to the works of Mariátegui and Gramsci, as well as to concepts such as imperialism and subalternity, argue that these contributions are essential even if they come from a Eurocentric theoretical tradition. We aim at a holistic and adequate understanding of our continent, seeking possible solutions to break with the coloniality underlying imperiality and identifying limits and advances of this apparently conflicting theoretical entanglement.
