Abstract

Based on the critical theory of Adorno and Horkheimer, this paper aims to present the issue of animal suffering in the civilizing process. We raised some elements related to the themes of the domination of nature, anti-Semitism, and mimetic behavior, as well as those referring to negative theology in Horkheimer, in order to be able to think about the animal question in the scope of an ethics that is based on the anxiety for justice for those who suffer in our society.
