Submission Guidelines

Submissions should be made via e-mail only (dissonancia@unicamp.br).

Authors may submit contributions independently of their academic title, as long as the contribution is within the journal's thematic scope.

Dissonancia does not charge any fees for the submission, evaluation or publication of manuscripts.

Submissions of Articles, Book reviews or Translations are accepted only for the thematic section of the journal, which functions through calls for papers with specific deadlines. Before submitting, please consult the open calls.

The journal accepts submissions in Portuguese, Spanish and English.

The name of the author should not appear on the submitted material. Please check the instructions available in Ensuring a Blind Review.

The submitted material must be original and unpublished and must not be under evaluation for publication elsewhere. The author must commit not to submit the same work to another platform before Dissonancia's editorial process is complete.

An author who had an article published in a volume of the journal can have another article published in Dissonancia after one year and a half of their last publication. A manuscript that has already been assessed and rejected may not be submitted again for review.

The submitted material must be in accordance with the journal's formatting guidelines and follow the specific guidelines for Articles, Reviews, and Translations listed below.

 

Articles

Articles must must fall within the thematic scope of the journal and the call for papers for the thematic section in question, as well as be submitted by the deadline specified therein.

File format: ".odt" (Libreoffice), ".doc" ou ".docx" (Microsoft Office).

Length of the abstract: 100 to 250 words.

Number of keywords: three to five. 

Length of article: between 30,000 and 45,000 characters (excluding spaces, abstracts, keywords and bibliographical references).

The article must follow the journal's formatting guidelines.

 

Book reviews

Book reviews must fall within the thematic scope of the journal and deal with books published in the last three years.

The review must be accompanied by the complete reference of the book being reviewed, including the title of the book, the names of authors, editors and translators (if applicable), number of pages, publisher, and year of publication.

Reviews should critically address the book in question, pointing out its importance to local or international debate.

File format: “.odt” (Libreoffice), “.doc” or “.docx” (Microsoft Office).

Review length: between 7,000 and 10,000 characters (excluding spaces and bibliographical references).

Reviews must follow the journal's formatting guidelines.

Reviews should not contain abstracts or keywords, and minimal use of footnotes is recommended.

Preferably, reviews should have a title.

 

Translations into Portuguese

Guidelines for translations into Portuguese are available in Portuguese only.
